While presenting the draft for National Security Strategy PM Borisov mentioned that it had taken more than six months to prepare it. Representatives of institutions, academia and NGOs took part in the discussions and in the preparation of the document. The outlining of the strategy’s basic principles has put the individual citizen at the focus of the three parties concerned “state – society – citizen”. He noted the Strategy introduces new components and aspects to the traditional understanding of politics in the security field.
He pointed that the strengthening of the internal institutional system of security is of the utmost importance. That is how Bulgaria will be able to count on the support of its EU and NATO allies. PM Borisov pointed out that the basic principle laid down in the strategy is the indivisibility of the country’s security system from the one of the European Union and NATO.
