The ceremony took place at the site of the memorial tablet of Petko Karavelov, member of the Constituent Assembly and one of the founders of the Turnovo Constitution, near the church “Sveti Sedmochislenitsi” in Sofia. Young jurists and law students joined the deputies.

Later on they had meeting with the president of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva. In the plenary hall of the parliament was screened a documentary showing the first steps in the work of the Bulgarian parliament. The documentary was dedicated to the 130^th anniversary of the first Constitution of the country, authored by the constituent assembly in Turnovo. The documentary was followed by a lecture delivered by the Constitutional Law expert and member of the Constitutional Court professor Emilia Drumeva. The participants further discussed how the people’s representatives at the time, united by a common ideal and will, had worked to reach the public weal, the importance of consensus and interaction in service of the national interests. Prof.Drumeva underscored the fact that the Turnovo Constitution in its spirit had been one of the most democratic at the time.

Mrs. Tsetska Tsacheva explained to the future legal professionals the process on how a draft bill becomes a law and added that the controversy on the issues of the state should take place in the parliament, due to the fact that Bulgaria is a parliamentary republic. She also wished the present law students and jurists to take the seats of parliamentary members some day winning the confidence of the Bulgarian citizens, as dictates the constitution of Bulgaria. In a parliamentary republic, such as Bulgaria, the choice to elect his/her representative is given to every citizen.

The law students were presented with a copy of the Constitution.
