01/05/2011

During the ceremony for the beatification of pope John Paul II, held at the Vatican Tsetska Tsacheva was greeted by the Prime Minister of Italy Silvio Berluskoni. The beatification mass was held on May 1st, 2011 at the Vatican by Pope Benedict XVI.

The ceremony was attended by state and government leaders from around the world, as well as by heads of parliaments and international organizations.

“The late pope John Paul II had an extraordinary charisma, erudition and spontaneity in his interaction with the faithful” Tsetska Tsacheva declared before the media representatives after the ceremony. She noted that people in Bulgaria have had first hand experience with this part of the personality of Pope John Paul II at the time of his Apostolic pilgrimage in the country in May 2, 2002. She emphasized that the Pope’s visit to Bulgaria had, among others, a great importance for putting an end to the so called “Bulgarian trace” in the assassination attempt of the Pope.
