The forum was held under the patronage of the parliamentary Health Care Committee and was organized by the Ministry of Health and the National Center of Hematology and Blood Transfusion. In the conference took part the chairwoman of the health care committee Desislava Atanasova , the Health Minister Stefan Konstantinov, representatives of regional centers for transfusion hematology and heads of transfusion hematology departments of big hospitals, representatives of the Bulgarian Red Cross as well as blood donors from all over the country. At the forum was presented a complete analysis of the activities performed at the Center, namely diagnostics, blood processing and blood products and blood components application in 2010. The project named “National information system on transfusion hematology” was presented. The latter is to be funded by the European Social Fund through OP “Development of Human Resources”. The Center has launched the project at the begining of June 2011.

The National Center together with the Bulgarian Red Cross awarded the 10 most often giving blood donors in the country. Awards were handed out also to journalists actively promoting the public awareness in the field of blood donation.
