Regional infrastructure projects and deepening of the economic relations between Bulgaria and the Republic of Macedonia were the key issues discussed at the meeting between the president of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva and the Republic of Macedonia’s foreign minister Nikola Poposki

The chair of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva met with the foreign minister of the Republic of Macedonia Nikola Poposki. The topics of discussion were the building of infrastructure in the region, the development of the bilateral and deepening of the economic relations.


“The existing connections between Bulgaria and Macedonia are a good ground for the development of our future good neighborly relations, something we owe to the citizens of our two countries”, the speaker of Bulgarian parliament underscored.


“The two countries - we as candidate and you as member of the European Union, have great potential and opportunities for cooperation that we have to profit of actively” – declared the foreign minister of the Republic of Macedonia.


“The Bulgarian deputies are obliged to share with their colleagues from the Republic of Macedonia the positive experience, as well as the mistakes committed in the preparations of the country for its EU membership and the process of adapting the legislation of Bulgaria to the European”, said the chair of Bulgaria’s parliament.


Tsetska Tsacheva expressed the explicit support of Bulgaria for Macedonia’s EU membership. She added that the Bulgarian institutions support all the Balkan countries in respect to their European integration.


The two parties declared their common desire to proceed with the construction of the infrastructure between the two states. They shared the opinion that the completion of the infrastructure projects in the whole region would be mutually beneficial. The two officials agreed that the latter should be a priority for both countries having in mind their unique chance to use European funds for the successful realization of these goals.


Tsetska Tsacheva and Nikola Poposki voiced the wish of Bulgaria and the Republic of Macedonia to work together and to make greater efforts to further activate and successfully develop the business contacts and economic relations of their two countries.


The parties discussed the opportunities for Bulgarian investments in the Republic of Macedonia. Minister Poposki stressed that Macedonia bears great interest in attracting investments in order to expand and open its markets and economy.


The chair of the National Assembly accepted the invitation to pay an official visit to the Republic of Macedonia.
