The Chair of the parliamentary Defense and Foreign Policy Committee Dobroslav Dimitrov met with Admiral Samuel Locklear – Commander of the NATO Allied Joint Force Command and Commander of US Naval Forces in Europe and Africa. The meeting was attended also by members of the committee and a delegation of the NATO Allied Joint Force Command.

Dobroslav Dimitrov reiterated the commitment of the last two years of Bulgaria’s parliament to reform the defense sector. The chair of the committee stressed that the Bulgarian army has the highest approval rate of the citizens in the country.

Admiral Locklear commanded highly the role of Bulgaria as partner of the Alliance and the participation of the Bulgarian military in the peacekeeping missions of NATO.

The Commander of the NATO Allied Joint Force Command and of the US Naval Forces in Europe and Africa noted the importance of the adopted this year National Security Strategy and goal to build an army with high potential.

Samuel Locklear stressed the need of “an intelligent defense” development, such that will increase the defense capabilities of the Alliance as a whole.
