The National Assembly president Tsetska Tsacheva has met with the president of the Federal Republic of Brazil Dilma Russef. The parliament’s vice – presidents Ekaterina Mihailova, Georgi Pirinski and Hristo Biserov took part in the talks.

The chair of the National Assembly invited the guest at the plenary hall and gave her as gift a mini version of the parliamentary bell.

The citizens of Bulgaria experience warm feelings towards you and far away Brazil, stressed at the meeting the chairwoman of the National Assembly. I am convinced that this first visit of yours will be of great importance for the development of the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Brazil, added Tsetska Tsacheva. She underscored that the two signed agreements in the information technology and communications field have laid a good ground for the upward development of the future relations between the two countries.

The most important result of the visit that I expect to occur is the deepening of our cooperation in the economic field, declared Dilma Ruseff at the meeting. She noticed that the investments of her country in the European Union and vice versa are increasing and in this respect Bulgaria could become the door of Brazil to the EU and vice versa.

Dilma Ruseff expressed her conviction that the contacts in the field of education could be stimulated, in particular the exchange of students and the cooperation between scientific research institutions in the two countries. Tsetska Tsacheva welcomed the idea and added that cooperation in these two fields could become a live bridge between the two cultures and states.

The President of Brazil expressed the desire of her country to deepen the political, economic and cultural relations with Bulgaria. I want to reassure you that in our country you could discover a lot of serious partners, declared further the state head of Brazil. I have a very close relation to Bulgaria, which bears also a sentimental side, she confessed and expressed her gratitude for the warm reception accorded to her by the people of Bulgaria.

Dilma Ruseff has written in the honorary book of the National Assembly the following: “I am very happy to be in Bulgaria – the native country of my father. I am particularly proud to represent millions of Brazilian men and women. Brazil is a country where Bulgarians could discover many sincere friends and partners”.
