The amendments, adopted at first reading, to the Labor Code envisage fining of workers who supply their labor without a signed contract of employment as required by the Labor Code. The amount of the fine is to be equal to three monthly social security and health insurance contributions combined, based on the minimal contributory income set for the particular economic activity for which they were hired.
The fines will be payable to an account of the National Social Insurance Institute. Currently the law stipulates such a fine for employers who hire workers without contracts at the amount between BGN 1500 and BGN 15 000.
