The accession of Bulgaria to the Schengen Area, the internal energy market, the nuclear safety and the package of measures to raise employment are among the priorities of the National Assembly's 2012 Annual Work Program consecrated to matters on the European Union's agenda approved today. The program gives advantage to the legislative acts which will provide for an effective control of the National Assembly on the government’s participation in the process of debate and adoption of  European Union’s acts, as well as on  participation of the Bulgarian parliament in the political dialogue with the European institutions. Among the priorities laid in the program are measures to keep steady the influx of public revenues while protecting investors, the creation of a fast mechanism to cope with VAT fraud. 

The program relies also on the Multi Annual Financial Framework of the EU and plans to work on the introduction of the Pan-European framework for digital identification, authentication and signature. The package of measures to encourage employment comprises the establishment of a flexible and mobile labor market, social inclusion, free movement of workers within the Union, as well as innovations in the field of healthcare. The main legislative decisions necessary and outlined in the annual program for the Judiciary and Internal Affairs’ sector are the provisions related to the basic definitions of the crimes and punishments in the traffic of narcotic substances, the Third European Directive related to money laundering and the fight against the cybercrime in the EU. The enlargement of the EU in 2012 is another priority set  in the work program of the National Assembly.
