Parliament sets up ad-hoc inquiry committee due to price increase of certain drugs

The National Assembly has set up a temporary committee of inquiry to find out the cause of the price increase of certain groups of drug products, covered by the NHIF or the state budget. The committee has also to propose to the parliament measures to reduce public spending. 94 MPs supported the establishment of the committee, 5 voted against and 41 MPs abstained.


The deputies adopted  proportional membership to the ad-hoc committee, instead of such based on parity, as proposed by the opposition, which will consist of 13 members – six from the GERB PG, 2 from the Coalition for Bulgaria PG, 2 from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms PG and 1 from the Ataka party, the Blue Coalition and the independents parliamentary groups.
