The accession of Bulgaria to the space of Schengen, the crisis in Europe and the future of the euro zone were the key topics discussed at the talks between the President of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva and the President of the Czech Republic Vaclav Klaus.

Mrs. Tsetska Tsacheva has thanked the state institutions, the politicians and the people of the Czech Republic for their explicit support for the natural aspirations of Bulgaria to join Schengen. She emphasized that Bulgaria had paid the high price for its membership by investing a lot of funds in order to reach the criteria.

The Czech Republic supports unconditionally Bulgaria for its Schengen area membership, stated the President Vaclav Klaus. He added the membership in the space has its advantages as well as shortcomings. According to him, the European countries realize also the advantages and disadvantages in respect to the common currency - the euro.

The Chair of the National Assembly, Mrs. Tsetska Tsacheva, noticed the Bulgarian parliament has agreed to sign the Treaty on Stability, Coordination and Governance of the Economic and Monetary Union with some reservations. One of the reservations expressed by Bulgaria is that the country was not going to take any financial obligations and to harmonize its tax policies with the contracting states of the European Union, parties to the Treaty. Bulgaria does not accept the provisions regarding the common tax policies because it considers low taxes as a tool to attract investments, added Tsetska Tsacheva.

She informed President Klaus that besides the political talks, the Bulgarian cultural and political elites were expecting eagerly the presentation of his book. The issues that worry you , whose career as politician and statesman went through the transition years, will undoubtedly be of great interest to the Bulgarian audience, noticed the Chair of parliament at the meeting.
