The parliament passed decision in support of the government’s move to stop the construction of the second NPP –at the Belene site. The decision received 120 “yes” votes coming on the part of the GERB and the Blue Coalition parliamentary groups and some independent MPs. Against the decision voted 42 deputies from the Coalition for Bulgaria and the Ataka party parliamentary groups and 5 independent MPs. One independent deputy abstained. The parliamentary group of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms did not take part in the vote.
The decision assigns to the government to explore the possibilities for construction of a steam gas power plant on the Belene site. The proposal the operation of the gas plant to be based on market principles made by Martin Dimitrov and the Blue Coalition was approved. The government has further to undertake the necessary steps to build the nuclear reactor on the site of the NPP ”Kozloduy” using the already purchased equipment.
With 115 votes in favour, two – against and 13 – abstained the Parliament elected MP Plamen Tsekov, member of the parliamentary group of GERB to the post of Manager of the National Health Insurance Fund. He is to occupy the post of ex-Manager Neli Nesheva who resigned. His term of office will end on 12 February 2015. The decision shall enter into force from the date of its promulgation in State Gazette.
