Young people with autism visited the National Assembly on the occasion of the World Day for Raising the Awareness on the Issues of Autism. They met the President of the Parliament Mrs. Tsetska Tsacheva and made an exhibition of paintings and ceramics created by young people with autism.
The guests made use of the opportunity to familiarize the President of the National Assembly Tsetska Cacheva and the Deputy chairperson of the Committee of Health Daniela Daritkova with the challenges that people with autism are faced with and the ways they cope with them. The young artists Ivo Atanassov and Lyuboslav Angelov made a gift of their paintings to Tsetska Cacheva.
The visit to the Parliament on the occasion of the World Day for Raising the Awareness on the Issues of Autism was on the initiative of the civil movement “Help for people with development problems”. The objective of this exhibition is to show the unique world, different thinking, interests and talents of the people with autism.
Official data of 2008 show that there are 16 000 persons of the autistic spectrum in Bulgaria. Worldwide one of 100 children is diagnosed for autism.
