National Assembly President Tsetska Tsacheva has met with His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All of Russia

The President of the National Assembly has met with His Holiness Kirill - the Patriarch of Moscow and All of Russia.


During the conversation Mrs. Tsetska Tsacheva has expressed satisfaction with the visit of Patriarch Kirill to Bulgaria’s parliament. She has noted that the Church and the parliaments have the same mission to work for the society’s well-being and for the formation of the young generation’s individuals. Mrs. Tsetska Tsacheva stressed that she has always maintained useful contacts with Bulgaria’s Orthodox Church and was satisfied with the interaction between the National Assembly and the Holy Synod and his Holiness the Patriarch of Bulgaria Maxim. She expressed her confidence that the visit of Patriarch Kirill will give new impetus to the relations between the two sister churches.


Patriarch Kirill has drawn attention on the influence played by the globalization on the national cultural identity. He pointed to the importance of the moral values in the development of the contemporary world.


Mr. Volen Siderov, Chairman of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy took part in the meeting. It was attended as well by representatives of the Bulgarian Holy Synod and the rest of the Russian delegation.


The chairwoman of the parliament showed to Patriarch Kirill the plenary hall and the seat designated for Patriarch Maxim when he visits the parliament.


The speaker of the National Assembly, Mrs. Tsetska Tsacheva made as gift to Patriarch Kirill a picture of the Glogene Monastery, drawn by the painter from the town of Troyan Tsviatko Dochev. On his part Patriarch Kirill gave as present to Mrs. Tsetska Tsacheva a book titled “Primate” and an incrusted with casing eastern egg. Mr. Volen Siderov presented patriarch Kirill with an icon of St Ivan Rilski
