The President of the National Assembly Mrs. Tsetska Tsacheva and other members of the parliament took part on 1st and 2nd May, 2012 in the festivities dedicated to the 136th anniversary of the April Uprising. The chair of parliament handed out the national award “Oborishte” to the Bulgarian writer, Prof. Anton Donchev, for his contributions to the preservation of Bulgarian national identity.

On May 1st 2012, Mrs. Tsetska Tsacheva and the deputies took part in the National Convention and Tattoo held on “20 April” Sq. in the town of Panagyurishte.

On May 2nd, 2012 the speaker of the parliament attended the meeting in commemoration of the uprising at the site “Oborishte”. “Every year we come here to recall the event that had happened here, to track out the thread this event had started, which passes through generations of Bulgarians, the thread of decisiveness and accord needed attain the common cause that we have to transfer to the next generations, noted in her speech at “Oborishte” Tsetska Tsacheva. In her words, this thread obliges the present generation to give account to the forefathers for what was accomplished and what they are to pass on to the next ones. “What we can tell them is that Bulgaria has a place in the world and is not isolated. Bulgaria today is not a backward country. We can tell them that despite the ups and downs of life, the generations of Bulgarians after them did their best to create a state of free, knowledgeable and capable people” noticed the chair of the National Assembly.

She further pointed out that “Oborishte” is no more a place for revolutionary proclamations, but a place for reflection. “It is from this forest that our freedom had started, our independence, even our statehood. It was on this place that one people, which for centuries was held aside of the modern development in Europe, had decided to fight for rights and progress”, she added.

The commemoration at the site “Oborishte” started with a solemn water blessing ceremony. The chair of parliament Tsetska Tsacheva laid wreaths at the monument “Oborishte”.
