The President of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva and the President of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matvienko took part in Sofia in the celebrations on the occasion of Bulgaria’s Education and Culture and Slavic Script Day

Tsetska Tsacheva and Valentina Matvienko took part in the solemn manifestation and ceremony held in front of the Monument of Sts Cyril and Methodius on the occasion of the Day of Bulgarian Education and Culture and Slavic Script, May 24.

A solemn water blessing service was held. Performed were the hymn of Sts Cyril and Methodius: “March ahead, o revived people, To your future march ahead, Forge your destiny of glory, By the might of letters led” and the National anthem of the Republic of Bulgaria. The official guests laid wreaths at the monument of the holy brothers, creators of the Cyrillic alphabet.

The chair of the Bulgarian parliament and the president of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation have participated in the academic celebration of May 24th at the Sofia University “St Kliment Ohridski”. The President of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matvienko, delivered an address to the academic leadership, teachers and students of the university.
