The National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria has honored with a minute of silence the victims of the terrorist attack held at the “Sarafovo” airport of Burgas. The Bulgarian parliament has adopted a declaration condemning strongly the terrorist attack carried out yesterday at the airport of Burgas against Israeli tourists. The document was supported by 156 Members of the Parliament from the parliamentary groups of GERB, the Coalition of Bulgaria, Movement for Rights and Freedoms, the Blue Coalition, Ataka and by independent deputies.

DECLARATION
of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria on occasion of the terrorist attack held at the Airport of Burgas on July 18th 2012

On July 18th 2012 at the city of Burgas’ Airport was carried a heavy terrorist attack, which led to the death and injuries of peaceful Bulgarian and Israeli citizens.

Bulgaria is stunned. There is nothing that can justify the death and pain of innocent people.

This act carried out on the territory of a sovereign state – Member of the European Union, represents a provocation against the efforts of the democratic community for a lasting peace in the world.

Expressing its sincerest condolences to the relatives of those who died and its sympathy to the victims,

Condemning unconditionally the taking of innocent human life and bowing before the death of all peaceful people who became victims of terrorist attacks around the World,

Perceiving the activities of terrorist organizations as one of the most serious threats to the world peace,

Confirming the commitments of the Republic of Bulgaria ensuing from the Resolutions of the United Nations Security Council for combating terrorism,

Condemns categorically the terror attack, carried out on July 18th 2012 at the Burgas Airport,

Urges all competent Bulgarian institutions to undertake all the necessary efforts to find out the organizers and perpetrators of the attack and bring them before the court,

Asks the Government of Bulgaria to render timely and complete assistance to the victims and to undertake the necessary measures to warrant the safety of all Bulgarian and foreign nationals.
