Parliament has rejected the no confidence motion against the government

The Parliament has rejected the no confidence motion against the government, tabled by the parliamentary groups of Coalition for Bulgaria and Movement for Rights and Freedoms. The motion of no confidence was on the grounds of “ failure of the government policies in the interior and judiciary sectors”. The latter was rejected with 72 “for”, 136 “against” and two abstentions.


The government was supported by the Members of Parliament from GERB and the Independents. The movers of the no confidence vote from the parliamentary groups of the Coalition for Bulgaria and Movement for Rights and Freedoms, as well as one independent deputy voted in favor. The Blue Coalition and Ataka parliamentary groups have not participated in the vote. Two independent MPs abstained. The Vice Premier Tsvetan Tsvetanov as well as ministers Diana Kovacheva, Nikolay Mladenov, Lilyana Pavlova and Anu Angelov were present in the plenary during the debates and the final vote, broadcasted live by the Bulgarian National Radio and Television.
