BGN 10 000 to 20 000 penalties to be imposed on manufacturers of fodders who fail to provide information on the content of GMOs
23/11/2012
Fines of BGN 10 000 to 20 000 to be imposed on producers of packed or loose fodder containing some or completely made of GMOs (genetically modified organisms) who fail to provide information or laboratory data evidence for their presence to the buyers. The fine for repeated offence is to be BGN 15 000 to 30 000. These amendments to the Fodders Act have been passed at second reading by the parliament. Penalties for legal entities amount to BGN 15 000 to 30 000 for first offense and BGN 30 000 to 45 000 for the second one. Those who allow mixture of animal feed with hormonal products, beta-antagonists or tireostatics in excess of the permitted amounts will be fined differently depending on how serious or frequent is the offence or whether the offender is a natural person or legal entity.
