Delegations from Russia, Finland, Ukraine, Belarus, Rumania, Serbia and other countries who had contributed to the liberation of Bulgaria will be invited to attend the celebrations.

There is also a proposal for the event to be marked by the European Parliament through a special exhibition. The chair of the Initiative committee, Prof. Andrey Pantev, underscored that the liberation of Bulgaria had been an event of European importance. In his view the Initiative committee should put the stress of the commemorations on several directions. First to explain the event as a realization of the European ideals of the 19th century, to draw attention on the importance of the revolution carried out in Bulgaria and to pay respect towards Russia and all those who left their bones at the battle fields.

The Deputy Mayor of Sofia municipality, Todor Chobanov, has noted that the reconstruction of the monument of the Tzar Liberator will be completed before term and ready for the celebrations dedicated to the liberation. Descendants of General Gourko, who liberated the city of Sofia, will be invited for the inauguration of his monument.
