Parliament adopts at second reading amendments to the Clean Ambient Air Act

The admissible levels of harmful substances discharged by the big combustion installations will be fixed by an Ordinance of the Council of Ministers. This was stipulated with amendments to the Clean Ambient Air Act, passed at second reading by the parliament. The Council of Ministers is to adopt a National Plan for the, step by step, transition of the existing combustion installations with heat power equal or greater than 50 megawatts to the requirements of the Ordinance. The ordinance will be sent for approval to the European Commission. As of January 1st 2016 the Ministry of Environment and Waters will provide to the European Commission annually information on the emissions of sulfhur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and dust and on the amount of energy consumed by each of the installations, included in the government’s plan. The Director of the Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water, where the installation is operating , will establish and support a public Register.
