1124 letters, complaints, proposals, petitions and declarations on behalf of citizens, local authorities, civic organizations and initiative committees were filed at the 41st National Assembly during its 10th session. 57 letters and inquiries were filed electronically through the site of the parliament. The information is provided by the National Assembly’s Administrative and Information Center.

164 letters received direct answers from the parliament, 112 were sent for opinions to the competent authorities, and 699 were forwarded to the parliamentary committees. 149 anonymous letters, such without addresses, such with repeat issues that have already been answered, or such concerning private personal or family relations were set aside. 

The parliament had received 8 requests for access to public information.

The experts of the parliament’s Information Center had answered numerous phone calls and letters received through the internet about the work of the National Assembly.

Considerable part of the correspondence deals with problems related to the work of the Judiciary, requested extension of the restitution of agricultural land terms. Many letters dealt with the interest payment of long term bank deposits, devaluated at the beginning of the economic transition in the nineties. Received were many proposals in connection with the suggested introduction of a 10-year legal prescription for debts.

In the parliament were received letters from regional associations of people victims and handicapped of wars, concerning the issue of their medicines payment by the state and suggesting amendments to the Law on War Victims and War Disabled.

The election of members of the Supreme Judicial Council and the Constitutional Court has drawn great attention in the society.

The center had received many letters on the part of NGOs, parents’ and civic organizations regarding the amendments to the Law for Preschool and School Education which obliges 4-year old children to attend preparatory classes.

The amendments to the Health Law introducing complete ban on smoking stirred a lot of controversy in the society – owners of bars, cafes and restaurants opposing the ban and others expressing support for it.

There was a strong response on the part of the interested parties on the proposed amendments to the Law on the Cultural Heritage, the Law on the Spatial Planning, the Protection of Competition, the Consumer Protection, the Medicinal Products in Humane Medicine. Many employees of the services for urgent medical care reacted to the proposed amendments to the regulations of the National System for Emergency Calls with Unified European Number 112 allowing emergency calls through SMS.

During the 10th session the National Assembly had received many letters and proposals in connection with the forthcoming national referendum about the development of the nuclear energy, the changes in the Electoral Code and the next parliamentary elections in the country.
