Parliament supports President’s veto on amendments to Investment Encouragement Act
11/01/2013

The Parliament voted in support of the President’s veto imposed on the amendments to the Investment Encouragement Act. Deputies  rejected the amendments with 3 “yes”, 26 votes “against” and 95 abstentions. The parliamentary Economic Policy Committee has recommended support for the veto in its report.

President Rosen Plevneliev has returned the above law with the consideration that it contains too harsh requirements for granting permanent residency in Bulgaria. He criticizes some provisions of the law that link granting of Bulgarian citizenship with investments. The Head of State also disapproves of one text  related to the investments in the field of intellectual property.
