Military plant VMZ – Sopot taken off the prohibitive list for privatization by parliament
23/01/2013
The Parliament has dropped the military plant VMZ – Sopot from the
prohibitive list of enterprises set for privatization. The change in
the Privatization and Post-Privatization Control Act, tabled by members
of the parliamentary group of Citizens for European Development of
Bulgaria (CEDB) passed at first reading with 76 “yes” votes, 8
“against” and 2 abstentions.

The deputies from the ruling party
describe the situation of the enterprise as extremely difficult. It
seems very likely that after the enterprise is declared insolvent the
workers won’t be able to receive their remunerations and the company
would be sold in parts. They see as the only good option to preserve
the enterprise in easing the conditions already set in the strategy for
its privatization.
