The parliament has adopted at first and second reading the amendments to the Energy Act concerning prices of electricity. The changes authorize the State Regulatory Commission on Energy and Waters to change the prices of electricity more than once a year. According to the motives of the bill, moved by Martin Dimitrov and Dian Chervenkondev, the measure aims at bringing more flexibility and fairness in the electricity price formation.
The law foresees the creation of an advisory body - Social Council, to consult the Energy Minister on problems of his competence. The Council will include representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism, of consumers associations, of scientific organizations, trade unions and NGOs. The Social Council is established by decision of the Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism.
