The parliamentary member of the Coalition for Bulgaria, Mihail Mikov, has been elected as the President of the 42 nd National Assembly with the votes of 118 deputies. 97 MPs voted against.
The parliamentary group of the GERB political party has proposed for the post Tsetska Tsacheva – former president of the 41st National Assembly. Her nomination had the support of 96 MPs, while 117 voted against. One deputy from the Coalition for Bulgaria group abstained. The vote for the two nominations was open and carried in alphabetical order.
For vice-presidents of the National Assembly were chosen Maya Manolova from the Coalition for Bulgaria and Hristo Biserov from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms parliamentary groups. Both GERB and ATAKA refused to name a candidate for the post of vice-president.
