20/06/2013

The National Assembly has decided that starting at July 1, 2013 the benefit for child care leave for children between 1 and 2 years old will go up from BGN 240 to BGN 310. This is one of the numerous urgent measures of the government “Oresharski” undertaken in the social sphere to improve  living conditions in the country. The increase in the child care benefit was adopted with changes to the Budget Act of the State Social Security Act for 2013 adopted at second reading.

With 88 “yes” votes the MPs have supported unanimously the measures proposed by the government for rebalancing and stabilization of the energy sector. With the decision, which will take effect on the date of its promulgation in the State Gazette, the MPs support the Energy Regulatory Committee to set up new lower prices of electricity for the next pricing period and agree to undertake legislative amendments to ensure urgent amendments to the existing legislation and introduction of the new policies in the Energy sector.

The parliament has decided to establish a temporary committee to prepare the new draft of Election Code. The committee will consist of 12 members, three of each parliamentary group. The committee’s term of office was set up at 3 months. Maya Manolova was elected as chair of the committee on the part of the leftist Coalition for Bulgaria. The assembly has rejected the proposal made by GERB to make amendments to the current Election Code rather than draw a new one.
