The President of the National Assembly, Mihail Mikov, had received on July 31st, 2013 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States in Bulgaria, H.E. Marcie Ries. During the talks discussed were topical issues of the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and the United States. Both sides have agreed that the political dialogue between the two countries is very dynamic. Both parties confirmed their interest in further deepening of the partnership in all areas – including strengthening of the parliamentary contacts. Expressed was the expectation that the active and useful cooperation between the Bulgarian legislature and the US embassy will continue.

In response to the interest shown by Ambassador Ries, the Chairman of the National Assembly has presented the legislative priorities of the 42nd Assembly. He put emphasis on the adopted already legislative measures in the social policy area, the youth unemployment, the energy sector, and the small and medium enterprises. Mihail Mikov has presented in details the currently discussed bill for amendment of the 2013 State Budget Act.
