Let us retrieve the names and the memories of our grandparents and grand grand parents, who perished in the wars, because history is part of the legacy we owe to our children. This is what the president of the National Assembly, Mihail Mikov, called for in the town of Belogradchik during the inauguration of the monument dedicated to the combatants from the region that died in the wars. At the ceremony, held at the central square named “Revival”, present were other deputies, the bishop Sioniy, war veterans from the Second World War, citizens.

"Today the clarion is silent but every one of us should know and remember the feat of these men, some of them still present among us", said Mihail Mikov and shook hands with the 10 war veterans at the rostrum.

The total of 488 men from the region of Belogradchik had perished in the Balkan, the First and the Second world wars. The chair of the parliament, Mihail Mikov opened today a monument in their memory. The latter was erected with private donations and the financial aid of the Defense Ministry. The materials for the construction used are marble and granite. At its top the monument depicts the Cross of Courage. On behalf of the living veterans, Slavcho Andreev, extended gratitude towards the authorities for its  completion.

Mihail Mikov has also laid flowers at the monument of those who perished in the September Uprising, located in the village of Gorni Lom in the district of Vidin.
