The President of the National Assembly met on 18 October 2013 the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium, H. E. Anick Van Calster.

At the meeting were discussed a broad range of topics relating to the traditionally active bilateral relations and the common interests of Bulgaria and Belgium as partners in the European Union and the NATO. The two parties shared the opinion that they need closer relations between their parliaments and particularly at the level of parliamentary committees and friendship groups.

The President of the National Assembly extended his gratitude for the consistent and committed support of the Kingdom of Belgium for the full membership of Bulgaria in the European Union. He underscored the efforts of the two countries should be directed at unlocking the untapped potential for partnership especially in the trade-economic relations.

Mihail Mikov informed Ambassador Calster about the legislative activity of the 42nd National Assembly and noted the priorities at the moment are adoption of the 2014 State Budget and the tax laws.
