National Assembly President, Mihail Mikov, met the renowned all over the world French scientist, virologist and Nobel laureate, Prof. Luc Montagnier

The speaker of parliament, Mihail Mikov, has met with the famous French scientist, virologist and Nobel laureate, Prof. Luc Montagnier. Prof. Montagnier is on a visit to Bulgaria to take part in the Eight International Scientific Conference “Physics, chemistry and biology of water”.

The head of the National Assembly awarded the guest with honorary plaque from the Parliament as recognition of his extremely precious role in proving scientifically the innocence of the Bulgarian medics in Libya.  “You did it in such a way that the issue had not remained only a matter of Bulgaria but became known all over the world”, stressed Mihail Mikov. He defined Prof. Montagnier as a big friend to Bulgaria.

Prof. Montagnier on his behalf expressed gratitude and said he always feels well in Bulgaria. In respect to his basic research in the field of the HIV virus, he pointed the research in the field is expanding all the time and scientists were currently aiming at the complete cure of the disease.

The Parliament’s president noted the participation of the renowned in the whole world scientist in the scientific forum dedicated to the water, held in Bulgaria, sends a strong message to the region and Europe that our country is capable of taking part in the most up to date research on this valuable natural resource. Mihail Mikov added the scientific topic of the conference was particularly important in view of the changes in the global climate and is linked directly to the life of the future generations.

The head of the National Assembly informed the guest about the legislative priorities of Bulgaria in the area of environment and water protection.
