At the meeting with Georgia’s Foreign Minister, Maya Panjikidze, the chair of the National Assembly, Mihail Mikov, stated, that Bulgaria follows with special attention and supports the consistent efforts of Georgia towards integration with the EU and NATO.

He added the political relations between the two countries were excellent and could be deepen and made more dynamic – particularly in the economic sphere. In his words Bulgaria could be useful to Georgia both with its positive and negative experience with the reforms of the Judiciary.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia defined its visit to Bulgaria as extremely useful and effective. Maya Panjikidze said she felt among friends due to the committed support of our country and that Georgia is strongly interested in the enlargement of the cooperation in a number of areas, such as agriculture, transport, energy and trade. She added the experience of Bulgaria could be useful for her country because Bulgaria had reached the goal to which Georgia is currently aspiring – EU membership.

The speaker of the National Assembly, Mihail Mikov, praised Georgia for the success reached by the country in the development of the democratic process. He was firm that the inter-parliamentary cooperation is an important tool for further friendly and partners’ relations between the two countries.

During her official visit to Bulgaria, the foreign minister of Georgia, Maya Panjikidze, met with the head of the Foreign Policy Committee in the Bulgarian parliament, Yanaki Stoilov, as well as with members of the said committee. Yanaki Stoilov declared that Georgia could rely on the support of Bulgaria for its accession to the EU and NATO.

During her meetings at the parliament the Foreign Minister of Georgia, Maya Panjikidze, expressed gratitude for the support extended by Bulgaria for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia, as well as for its Euro-Atlantic integration.
