Let’s demonstrate that we are worthy of the legacy of the Apostle, urged the President of the National Assembly, Mihail Mikov, on occasion of the 141 st anniversary of the death  of Vasil Levski at the beginning of the plenary meeting.

Whatever we would say about the Apostle it would never be enough, underscored Mihail Mikov. He noted Levski had made the freedom of his people a cause of his life. The establishment of a Republic in Bulgaria was his cause, because for him that meant everyone will be judged by the same law. His cause was also equality for all peoples, ethnicity and states, the head of parliament added.

Mihail Mikov recalled the words of the Apostle: “All peoples in our country will live under the same pure and sacred laws, laws destined to men by God: the same for Turks, Jews and whosoever, equal for all. That is how it will be in our Bulgaria!”

“We don’t hope anything to come from outside and don’t solicit anything. Everything should happen by our own united efforts. Even the strongest calamity would not withstand it” , Mihail Mikov quoted . He added one of Levski’s behest  was: “to take advice from one another, to not let even the smallest pride  to overtake us…”. Levski has made these causes the essence of his life, Mihail Mikov noted and asked lawmakers to honor the memory of the Apostle.
