National Assembly President Mihail Mikov meets Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu

The President of the National Assembly, Mihail Mikov, met on February 27, 2014 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Ahmet Davutoglu who is on an official visit to Bulgaria.
““Success story” is the brief but precise definition of Bulgarian – Turkish relations in the last 25 years”, declared at the meeting the Foreign Minister of Turkey. From history we should draw not the contradictions but the lessons, he added and stressed the two countries currently had the will to continue building up the excellent bilateral cooperation. Minister Davutoglu determined transport, energy and tourism as priority areas of cooperation.

The National Assembly President Mihail Mikov declared relations of good-neighbors and partners to be the most correct for the future  between Bulgaria and Turkey. He added, it is true that history is a teacher (Magistra vita est) who could teach also bad lessons.  He further said, the two countries should improve and develop the potential of the regional formats of cooperation outlined by the Process of Cooperation in South East Europe and the Black Sea Economic Cooperation organizations.

At the meeting the two parties discussed the problem with the refugees and agreed that the issue was challenging for both countries requiring a thoughtful approach and solidarity on the part of the international community.

The two sides agreed that the parliaments of the two countries played key role in the development of the cooperation.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Ahmet Davutoglu conveyed  greetings on behalf of the Turkish Parliament’s Speaker to the President of the National Assembly, Mihail Mikov.
