The opportunities for enhanced and useful economic cooperation between Bulgaria and Kuwait were among the topics discussed in a meeting between Yanaki Stoilov, chairman of the parliamentary foreign policy committee and a parliamentary delegation from Kuwait. A parliamentary delegation from Kuwait led by Mr Hamad Al Harashni, head of the friendship group in the parliament of the State of Kuwait is on an official visit to Bulgaria on the 10th of February.
The relations between Bulgaria and Kuwait in the last years are developing consistently in an upward direction. The visits of Bulgaria’s Prime Minister in 2010, and those held in Kuwait by the heads of our parliament are a proof in this respect. He stressed the cooperation between the two states in the foreign policy field is very good, but negligible so far in the economic sphere. In his words the good political ties should be used to better and more effective economic relations.
The development of better economic relations is impeded by objective difficulties that are to be overcome, said Yanaki Stoilov. In his view the tourist and investments fields, as well as the fields of education and culture have serious potential.
The Chairman of the friendship group Kuwait – Bulgaria, Hamad Al Harashani, underscored that the visit of their parliamentary delegation in Bulgaria was proof of the will to develop and enrich the bilateral relations in all fields. He mentioned the problem of transportation through Iraq is considerable but said the latter should not be an obstacle to the development of the economic relations between the two countries. He specified the Kuwaiti business is interested in such areas as banking, tourism and agriculture and added relaxing of visa requirements for citizens of Kuwait would contribute to the development of the economic relations. He noted Kuwait had already eased its visa regime with regards to citizens of Bulgaria.
Later on the Chairman of the group for friendship between Kuwait and Bulgaria, Mr Hamad Al Harashani and the delegation led by him are scheduled to meet the President of the National Assembly, Mr Mihail Mikov as well as to meet with the Vice-President of the National Assembly and head of the friendship group with Kuwait in the Bulgarian parliament, Mr Aliosman Imamov.
The program of the delegation envisions meeting with the Vice-President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mrs Margarita Popova.
