With 12 “yes” votes and 8 “against” the parliamentary Budget and Finance Committee has decided to propose to the National Assembly to pass again the Audit Office Act, which was returned by the President of the Republic to be reconsidered by the National Assembly.
Budget and Finance Committee Chairpeson Yordan Tsonev noted that the new provisions change the management model of the Audit office, to make it a collective body. The existing model is a variety of the main auditor, as the vice – chairmen of the Audit office currently are not required to exercise auditing functions. He explained the change in the way of managing the Audit Office does not require additional funds for 2014.
The Audit Office bill has been under consideration by the parliament since January 2014. Yordan Tsonev underscored that members of parliament as well as the leadership of the Audit Office took part in the discussions of the bill.
