Exhibition of photos, documents, books and gramophone records of Boris Hristov, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the famous Bulgarian bass is on display at the National Assembly.
Boris Hristov is a name every Bulgarian should be proud of,stated the patron of the exhibition and Speaker of Parliament Mihail Mikov at the opening. In his words the renowned opera singer combines in a unique way the spirit of Slavic soul with brilliant singing. He made known and famous throughout the world Bulgaria, the Bulgarian choir art and the incredible talent of Bulgarian opera singers. Let’s be proud that Bulgaria has Boris Hristov and let his name and life become an example in the schoolbooks of Bulgarian children for the next generations.
The director of the Sofia Opera and Ballet Theater, academician Plamen Kartalov, noticed that Bulgaria’s parliament is hosting for a second time in the last years an event linked with the great and important art of the opera. He recalled the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the foundation of Bulgaria’s opera stage and the current celebration of the 100th birthday of the great Bulgarian Boris Hristov.
The exhibition, organised by the Sofia Opera and Ballet Theater, shows publications dedicated to Boris Hristov, his recordings in Bulgaria and photos from his performances with the choir of the Sofia Opera in Bulgaria and around the world.
The exhibition dedicated to the centenary of Boris Hristov’s birth is among the events in support of the city of Sofia and the Southeast region candidacy for cultural capital of Europe in 2019. It is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and is part of the series of celebrations on occasion of the anniversary of the great singer.
