The newly elected 43rd National Assembly is to hold its first sitting on 27 October 2014 at 2 pm. The Assembly is convened by decree of the Head of State Rosen Plevneliev, issued on 21 October 2014 in conformity with Art.75 of the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria. The sitting is to be broadcast live on the channels of the National Television and the National Radio.
According to the Constitution (Art. 76) the National Assembly’s inaugural session is opened by the oldest present national representative, who is to deliver a speech. In the 43rd National Assembly the oldest lawmaker is Stefan Danailov.
At the first meeting the deputies are to take the following oath of office: “In the name of the Republic of Bulgaria I swear to observe the Constitution and the laws of the country and in all my actions to be led by the interest of the People. I swear.” Next, the oath's declaration is signed by each representative.
The anthems of the Republic of Bulgaria and the European Union are to sound in the plenary hall, followed by an address towards the nation and the National Assembly, delivered by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rosen Plevneliev.
Statements will be made by representatives of all the political parties and coalitions elected at the National Assembly. The President of the 43rd National Assembly will be elected at the sitting. The lawmakers will vote on a draft resolution setting up the election procedure to be applied which results will be proclaimed at the end.
The elected President of the 43rd National Assembly will take on the leadership of the opening meeting and will deliver a speech.
The next step foresees election of vice-presidents and adoption of a resolution to apply temporarily the Rules of Organization and Procedure of the former NA.
Voted will be resolutions on election of interim secretaries of the parliament and on an Ad- Hoc Committee on the Draft of the Rules of Organization and Procedure of the 43rd National Assembly. At the end, the lawmakers are scheduled to take all together a photo picture in front of the National Assembly’s building formal door entrance.
