National Assembly approves Boyko Borisov as Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria

The National Assembly has approved on November 7, 2014 Boyko Borisov as the new Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria. The deputies also approved the proposed by him structure and members of the Council of Ministers. The nomination of Boyko Borisov for the Premier’s post was supported by 149 lawmakers, while 85 voted against.

The structure of the new cabinet was accepted with the votes of 144 MPs, 83 MPs voted against and one abstained. The structure of the new government shows it is to have 4 vice-premiers.

The National Assembly has elected with 136 “yes” votes, 97 “against” and 1 abstention Rumiana Bachvarova as vice-premier in charge of the coalition policies and the state administration, Meglena Kuneva as vice-premier for coordination of the European Union affairs and the institutions. Tomislav Donchev was chosen as vice-premier on the European funds and economic policies, Ivaylo Kalfin for vice-premier on demographic and social policy and Minister of Labor and Social Policy.

The parliament has elected Vladislav Goranov  as Minister of  Finance, Veselin Vuchkov for Interior Minister, Lilyana Pavlova for Minister of Regional Development and  Public Works, Nikolay Nenchev for Defense Minister, Daniel Mitov for Minister of Justice, Todor Tanev for Minister of Education and Science, Petar Moskov for Minister of Health, Vezhdi Rashidov for Minister of Culture, Ivelina Vasileva for Minister of Environment and Waters , Desislava Taneva – Minister of Agriculture and Foods, Ivaylo Moskovski for Minister of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications, Bozhidar Lukarski – Minister of Economy, Temenuzhka Petrova for Energy Minister, Nikolina Angelkova for Minister of Tourism and Krasen Kralev as Minister of Youth and Sports.

The newly elected members of the Council of Ministers were sworn in before the National Assembly.
