02/02/2015

While opening the work meeting on issues related to the National Program for Energy Efficiency of Multifamily Residential Buildings, the National Assembly President Tsetska Tsacheva said she was expecting the program to have beneficial effect on both employment and energy efficiency, as well as on the good looking of the residential complexes. The forum took place on February 2, 2015 and was attended by governors and mayors from the Northwestern Region of Bulgaria.

The head of the parliament reaffirmed her commitments to the development of the Northwestern Region, the one with the weakest indicators in all EU regions. In her words the way to improve the latter was through participation in big infrastructural projects. She gave as an example the construction of the Hemus highway, which is to start in the summer.

The chair of the parliament underscored the development of the Northwestern Region of the country was also important because it helped improving the relations between the local and the central authorities.

The national program for energy efficiency of multifamily residential buildings was presented by Lilyana Pavlova, Minister of Regional Development and Public Works. She announced the government had  specific policies in support of the underdeveloped regions such as the Northwest. During 2007 – 2013 in the region of Pleven were invested BGN 70 M from OP "Regional Development". The funds allocated for 2014 -2020 from OP “Regions in Growth” for the  municipality of Pleven alone amount to BGN 57 M. Lilyana Pavlova explained the procedures of the rehabilitation process answering in detail the questions raised by representatives of the local authorities.
