Documentary exhibition titled: “European Dimensions of the Liberation of Bulgaria” on display at the National Assembly to be rendered to Foundation “Vasil Levski”

The National Assembly is to hand over to Foundation “Vasil Levski” its documentary exhibition titled: “European Dimensions of the Liberation of Bulgaria”. The exposition was shown on occasion of the 135th anniversary since the country’s liberation.

At the eve of 19 February, 2015, the date of the Apostol’s death, the head of the National Assembly, Mrs. Tsetska Tsacheva, received the leaders of the Foundation. The documentary exhibition, assembled by the Archives State Agency, consists of 14 panels showing very important events of Bulgarian history like the April Uprising, the Russian troops’ arrival, the battles of Pleven, the Conference of Tsarigrad (old name of Istanbul), the consecration ceremony of the Samara flag (the flag of Bulgarian volunteers in the Russo-Turkish War), the Peace Treaty of San Stefano, the Congress of Berlin and the Constituent Assembly.

Dora Chausheva - Director of the Museum of Vasil Levski in the revolutionary’s native town Karlovo thanked the head of the parliament for the noble initiative and noted that the Foundation could organize the travel of the exposition to different places in Bulgaria and abroad.

The leaders of Foundation “Vasil Levski” presented Tsetska Tsacheva with copies of the book, titled “Vasil Levski – the Apostol of Bulgaria’s Freedom”. The book has been translated and published in eight languages – English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Hungarian and Norwegian.

During the meeting, the National Assembly and the Foundation confirmed their will to continue the collaboration in carrying out joint patriotic initiatives.
