National Assembly President Tsetska Tsacheva met Pavlo Klimkin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine

The head of the National Assembly, Tsetska Tsacheva, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Pavlo Klimkin, on 16 February 2015. He is on official visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister, Daniel Mitov.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the development of the bilateral relations focusing on the relations between the parliaments of the two countries. During the talks special emphasis received the peaceful solution of the conflict in Eastern Ukraine with the understanding that the Agreement of Minsk should reach results, giving the right path and chances for de-escalation of the conflict and for normalization of the situation.

Bulgaria and Ukraine are interested in deepening the mutually beneficial cooperation; the two countries are close not only in terms of geography but also historically and culturally. It was underscored that in addition there is a big Bulgarian diaspora, living on the territory of Ukraine.

The chair of parliament recalled her recent meeting with the deputy chairman of the Ukraine’s parliament and added that the Bulgarian parliament was to establish soon a friendship group with Ukraine.
