01/04/2015

Representatives of the different political forces in the National Assembly are unanimous in their support for the development and deepening of the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and China. This was also the opinion of Tsetska Tsacheva, Chair of the National Assembly of Bulgaria and Sun Zhengcai, member of the Chinese Communist Party’s Politburo and Communist Party Secretary of Chongqing city. Mr. Zhengcai is on a visit to Bulgaria from 31 March to 2 April 2015. Tsetska Tsacheva met with Sun Zhengcai on 1 April 2015.

The Chair of Bulgaria’s Parliament expressed satisfaction with the ongoing intensive political dialogue between the two countries which proves the priority given by Bulgaria to its relations with China. She extended an invitation for a delegation of the All-Chinese Assembly of the People's Representatives, led by its Chairman, to pay a visit to Sofia. Direct contacts between high ranking state leaders are particularly important for the development and strengthening of the cooperation between the two countries, noted Tsetska Tsacheva. She explained that it is important for politicians to outline the framework of the cooperation in advance so as to enable better business partnerships and relations.

Bulgaria and China are far away from each other but between the two countries exists traditional friendship, stressed Sun Zhengcai. He expressed satisfaction with the development of the bilateral relations and the cooperation between the legislative institutions of the two countries. Sun Zhengcai pointed to the continuous intensifying of the contacts in the fields of trade, economy and culture, and to the enormous potential for development in the trade-economic cooperation based on the existing already good foundations.

Tsetska Tsacheva underscored that Bulgaria is considering the Initiative for Cooperation between China and the states of Central and Eastern Europe (16+1) as an important platform for the expansion of the bilateral relations with China in all fields, as well as to be an important additional aspect of the strategic partnership between the EU and China. Sun Zhengcai noted that Bulgaria had an important place in the above initiative, that every beginning is difficult, but that the implementation of the initiative would be beneficial for all parties to it.
