Development of the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Mexico and enhancement of the parliamentary connections were discussed between the National Assembly President Tsetska Tsacheva and the Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Senate of Mexico, Gabriela Quevas. Mrs Quevas is on a 2-day visit to Bulgaria. She has conferred also with Dzhema Grozdanova, Chair of the parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee.
National Assembly President Tsetska Tsacheva noticed that Bulgaria was in favor of the upward development of the bilateral relations with Mexico and was considering the visit of Mrs. Quevas as contributing to the development of the parliamentary contacts. She expressed satisfaction with the fact that in both parliaments existed friendship groups serving as a living bridge between the MPs in the two countries.
I am satisfied, Gabriela Quevas said, that we are in the process of deepening our relations through carrying out parliamentary contacts. Mexico, in her opinion, should establish much closer relations with the countries of Central and South Europe, where with Bulgaria it had common interests. Gabriela Quevas noted that her committee had proposed the opening of an Embassy of Mexico in Bulgaria.
Tsetska Tsacheva further said the bilateral contacts could be carried out also through the European Union, of which Bulgaria was member. She stressed that Bulgaria and Mexico were maintaining good relations in the international organizations and expressed hope Mexico would support Irina Bokova, the nomination of Bulgaria for Secretary General of the United Nations.
Tsetska Tsacheva underscored that Mexico was a country with an ancient history and contributions to the world civilization and added politicians should create opportunities for scientific, economic and trade exchange between the two countries.
Mrs. Quevas pointed out the exchange of students as an interesting field of cooperation.
The Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Mexican parliament, Mrs. Quevas, has had meetings with the National Assembly’s Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Dzhema Grozdanova, and with the Republic of Bulgaria's Deputy Foreign Minister, Valentin Poriazov.
