National Assembly President Tsetska Tsacheva met with Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguen Than Zung

The president of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva has met with the Premier of Vietnam Nguen Than Zung. The Prime Minister of Vietnam is on an official visit to Bulgaria on the invitation of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

I am confident the current visit represents a new decisive step in the development of the bilateral relations, which have a rich history, noticed the head of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva.

Tsetska Tsacheva stressed the parliamentary cooperation between the two countries had very good traditions and the fact that the friendship group Bulgaria -Vietnam was headed by one of the vice presidents of the National Assembly, Yavor Notev, was proof of that. She added that all Vietnamese citizens who had studied in Bulgaria, as well as the contacts established between the two parliaments had laid down the strong ground of the bilateral relations.

The Prime Minister of Vietnam, Nguen Than Zung, said it was a great honor and pleasure for him to be in Bulgaria in the year marking the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He expressed gratitude for the favorable conditions offered to the Vietnamese students in Bulgaria, and added many of those who had finished their studies in Bulgaria currently hold high positions in the government of Vietnam.

National Assembly President Tsetska Tsacheva said the economic development of Vietnam was impressive. She also pointed out the economic – trade relations between Bulgaria and Vietnam were growing but had not reached yet their potential. She outlined the fields of mutual interest to be developed as agriculture and bio agriculture in particular, the information technologies, tourism and culture. Tsetska Tsacheva expressed support for the aspirations of Vietnam to heighten the level of its relations with the European Union and expressed her hope that the signing of the Framework Agreement for Partnership and Cooperation between Vietnam and the EU will boost the cooperation between Vietnam and Bulgaria as well. Bulgaria as an EU member country has the opportunity to assist with the faster ratification by the EU Parliament of the agreement.

Tsetska Tsacheva also praised the good work of the representatives of the two countries in various international organizations and her hope that Vietnam will support the Bulgarian nomination of Irina Bokova for Secretary General of the United Nations.
