The National Assembly President Tsetska Tsacheva has laid flowers at the Monument of Vasil Levski in the town of Dimitrovgrad, Republic of Serbia.

The Chair of the National Assembly is taking part in the 3rd Conference of Parliamentary Members from the Danube River Countries, held in Belgrade at the National Assembly of Serbia.

The Conference was open with a welcoming address delivered by the Serbian National Assembly’s Speaker Maja Gojkovich.

The participants in the conference are to discuss three main topics – water management and flood prevention in the river Danube Basin; development of the rail, land and air transport in the Danube region; the investments in research and science as a driving force for development of the Danube region. There will be presentation of the project: “Advancing the education of Roma in Serbia”.

The 3rd Conference of Parliamentarians from the Danube river countries will end with the adoption of a joint declaration. The latter is to follow the basic principles of the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region. The document will stress the need for further economic development of the region of the Danube River through setting out policies for protection of the environment and an effective energy management, further modernization of the transport infrastructure and development of the cooperation in the area of security.

The Chairperson of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva is scheduled to have an official meeting with the head of the National Assembly of Serbia Maja Gojkovich.

Parliamentary delegations from Bosnia and Hercegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Moldova, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine are to take part in the conference.
