National Assembly President Tsetska Tsacheva has met with the Republic of Montenegro’s President, Filip Vujanovich, who is on an official visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of President Rosen Plevneliev. During the meeting the two parties expressed satisfaction with the intensive dialogue held at high political level and with the existing active diplomatic relations.

The chairwoman of the National Assembly has noted that the two countries have an ancient and rich history and that there were partnerships that could be expanded. Tsetska Tsacheva has added that what the Bulgarians and Montenegrins were expecting from their politicians was to ease the communications between them. She expressed hope that Montenegro is to receive an invitation for NATO membership until the end of the year.

The President of Montenegro Filip Vujanovich put the stress on the excellent bilateral relations and the need to develop further the regional cooperation in the economy, energy, culture, science and education fields. He said Montenegro appreciates the support of Bulgaria in the process of its European and NATO integration because of the important and valuable experience it has.

At the meeting Tsetska Tsacheva pointed to the key importance of the parliamentary dimension of the South East Europe Cooperation Process (SEECP) as an important factor for the stability and cooperation in the region. Tsetska Tsacheva has added that Bulgaria sees as a priority the transformation of the SEECP’s Regional Secretariat, headquartered in Sofia, into a Permanent Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of SEECP. In her words, Sofia has undoubtedly an advantage in this regard due to the membership of Bulgaria in the EU and the future development of the relations with the European Parliament and in view of an active diplomacy.
  
The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Friendship group Bulgaria-Montenegro at the National Assembly, Prof. Borislav Borisov and the MPs Evgeni Stoev and Vasil Antonov.
