The Chairperson of the National Assembly Tsetska Tsacheva met with the President of the Swiss Academy of Sciences, Prof. Thierry Courvoisier. Among the topics discussed at the meeting were the potential of science to be of benefit and in close relations with the institutions, the business and the industry.

Tsetska Tsacheva underscored that the usual conservatism of politicians in respect to new scientific ideas must be overcome. In her view the scientific achievements may reach the public at large only when channeled by concrete polices and technologies.

Prof.  Thierry Courvoisier said it is through that scientists help society in the process of its development and for this reason the scientific research should be valued and preserved. 

The meeting was attended by the President of the Academy of Sciences of Bulgaria, Acad. Stefan Vodenicharov, who expressed satisfaction of the existing cooperation between BAS and the parliament. “We are happy to have such leader of the National Assembly, who is deeply interested in the Bulgarian science and has helped us many times", he said.

Tsetska Tsacheva handed to the guest the honorary plaquette of the National Assembly.
