The National Assembly honored with a minute of silence the late former Premier Dimitar Popov.
“We were left by a Bulgarian jurist and politician, whose work as statesman we associate with the beginning of the democratic transition,” noted the Chairperson of the National Assembly, Tsetska Tsacheva. She underscored Dimitar Popov will be remembered as someone who fought consistently for the rule of law in Bulgaria.
"It is not by accident that he led the government, in a very difficult moment for our country, a government that will remain in history as “the government of national unity”, said the chair of parliament.
The head of the National Assembly, Tsetska Tsacheva, and other lawmakers attended the farewell ceremony of Dimitar Popov.
Earlier the chair of parliament sent a condolatory address to the family and relatives of the former premier.
