The National Assembly has adopted the National Health Strategy 2020. It was voted by 145 MPs, 103 voted in favor, 27 against and 15 abstained.
According to this document, tabled by the Council of Ministers, the healthcare policy will focus on improving the health status of all citizens, from all age groups. Among the priorities of the health strategy will be the creation of healthy living conditions throughout people’s lifespan, development of a fair, sustainable and effective healthcare system, oriented towards the provision of quality services. The strategy also puts the stress on improvement of the public health sector.
The Health Strategy 2020 sets up the following goals: lowering the mortality rate of infants in the age group 0-1, to 6.8 per 1000 live biths; lowering the mortality rate in the age group 1-9 to 0.24 per 1000; lowering the mortality rate in the age group of the 10-19 years old to 0.28 per 1000; lowering the mortality rate of people in active economic age, between 20-65 years old to 4.19 per 1000 and the prolonging of life expectancy for those older than 65 years to 16,4 years.
